Community Update: Tackling Drug Activity in Piccadilly Gardens |
||
On Sunday 28th September, officers from C relief NBO team responded swiftly to CCTV reports of suspected drug dealing in Piccadilly Gardens. This area has long been a concern for residents and businesses, and GMP remains committed to making it safer for everyone. Upon arrival, three males attempted to flee in separate directions but were quickly detained by officers on the ground:
One individual was found with a burner-style mobile phone—a device often used to avoid detection in criminal networks. He was arrested for drug supply offences and breach of bail conditions. While in custody, he caused damage to a police vehicle and behaved aggressively, leading to further arrests for criminal damage and public order offences.
A second male was caught with drug paraphernalia and a mobile phone. He was already in breach of court bail and was arrested for drug-related offences and failing to comply with legal restrictions.
The third suspect was found with multiple snap-bags containing cannabis and a quantity of cash. He was arrested for possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.
All three individuals have extensive histories of drug-related offences. Their arrests are part of an ongoing effort to disrupt the supply of illegal substances and reduce anti-social behaviour in the city centre.
Greater Manchester Police continues to work closely with local partners, businesses, and community groups to ensure Piccadilly Gardens is a safe and welcoming space for all. We thank the public for their vigilance and support.
